Argentina has collected more online betting tax in the first nine months of 2026 than it did in all of 2025. The figures come from ARCA, the country’s tax agency.
Between January and September 2026, online betting tax revenue reached ARS 123.856 billion. That equals about $81 million.
For all of 2025, the same tax brought in ARS 93.658 billion. This means the 2026 total has already passed last year’s figure by ARS 30.198 billion.
Argentine newspaper El Cronista reported on the figures. It cited consulting firm Empiria, which said the revenue equals 0.03% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).
Online Betting Tax Grows After Inflation
The figures were also adjusted for inflation to measure real growth. The calculation used an estimated inflation rate of 1.8% for September.
After that adjustment, online betting tax revenue is estimated to have grown around 42% in real terms over the nine months. Real terms means the growth is measured after removing the effect of rising prices.
World Cup Drives a July Peak
July 2026 was the strongest month for online betting tax collections. Revenue that month reached ARS 17.798 billion.
That was the highest nominal monthly level in the data. The peak came during the decisive stages of the World Cup.
ARCA also reported figures for traditional gambling. The tax on cash betting and slot machines brought in ARS 56.962 billion from January to September 2026.
That means online betting tax revenue was more than double the cash betting and slots total over the same period.
Taken together, the two taxes brought in about ARS 180.818 billion in the first nine months of the year.
Online betting tax revenue did not stay at its July level. Collections dipped in both August and September, according to the data.
Even with that decline, the nine-month total was enough to beat the full 2025 figure. There are still three months of 2026 left to count.
ARCA publishes monthly revenue reports on tax collections. The fourth-quarter reports will cover October, November and December 2026.
Those reports will show whether online betting tax revenue can climb back toward July’s World Cup-driven peak. For now, the most recent data shows collections dipping in August and September after the July high.
