Swedish gambling group Betsson reported record revenue for the third quarter of 2026. However, profits fell compared to the same period last year.
The company said higher operating costs and a weaker sportsbook margin weighed on its results. Returning to last year’s profit levels will depend on new markets and recent acquisitions.
Record Revenue but Lower Profits
Revenue rose 10% year-on-year to EUR 327 million. This was the highest quarterly revenue in the company’s history.
Operating income dropped 31% to EUR 46 million. As a result, the EBIT margin fell to 14.1%, down from 22.6% a year ago.
The business-to-consumer segment led the growth. Its revenue climbed 28% to EUR 280 million.
Active customers increased 40% to 1.9 million. Customer deposits rose 6% to EUR 1.55 billion.
Latin America was the strongest region, with revenue up more than 50%. Peru and Argentina saw high customer activity, helped by FIFA World Cup marketing campaigns.
Casino gaming remained the group’s most profitable area. Casino revenue grew 14% to EUR 254 million.
Sports betting revenue grew only 1% to EUR 72 million. The company pointed to low betting margins as the main reason.
Operating cash flow also fell. It came in at EUR 55 million, down from EUR 65 million a year earlier.
Expansion Plans Stay in Place
CEO Pontus Lindwall said customer activity stayed high despite the weaker sportsbook margin. He also noted that operating income rose slightly from the second quarter.
“This performance demonstrates the strength of our diversified business model with a broad geographical presence, several strong brands, and competitive offerings in both sports betting and casino that complement each other,” Lindwall said.
During the quarter, Betsson completed its acquisition of Rhino Entertainment Group. The company said the deal added to revenue and profitability and widened its global reach.
Betsson also launched its flagship brand in Belgium. It replaced the betFIRST name in the country to give the group a more consistent international identity.
The company introduced new sportsbook features and released new casino games. It is also using AI in product development, customer service, and marketing.
Betsson has said its next challenges include keeping profits up, continuing to expand, and handling more complex regulations.
Following the results, Betsson shares rose 2.88% to $96.45. The stock remains well below its 52-week high of $160.
