Seven players from Sport Club Jaraguá are facing a 30-day suspension. The suspension comes after a report found betting irregularities tied to a recent match.
The match in question took place on July 4. Jaraguá lost 8-1 to Juventus de Jaraguá do Sul in the Santa Catarina State Championship Serie B.
The Brazilian Football Integrity Unit, known as UIFB, released the report. The unit works alongside the Brazilian Football Confederation.
How Sportradar Flagged the Match
The UIFB report relied on analysis from Sportradar. The company monitors sports betting markets for unusual activity.
Sportradar said it found clear evidence that some bets were placed with knowledge of the match outcome. Betting volumes pointed to a Jaraguá loss by at least seven goals.
The data also showed bettors expected at least eight total goals in the game. Both numbers matched the final result closely.
Betting patterns shifted while the match was still being played. By the 37th minute of the first half, Juventus already led 4-0.
At that point, bets began favoring a Juventus win by six goals or more. Before halftime, that number moved up to seven goals.
The total-goals market followed a similar trend. Bets shifted from seven total goals to eight goals before the half ended.
Sportradar reported that 90 percent of handicap bets predicted a Juventus win by six goals or more. Around 92 percent of total-goals bets predicted seven or more goals scored.
The report also pointed to specific moments on the field. These included a penalty in the 63rd minute and defensive errors during the final goals of the match.
Three of the suspended players had prior ties to suspicious matches. Between 2022 and 2024, they played for clubs in Rio Grande do Sul and Rio de Janeiro during similarly flagged games.
What Happens Next
The request for suspension has been sent to the Santa Catarina Football Court of Sports Justice. The court will prioritize the case for review.
All seven players remain barred from football activity during the 30-day suspension. This applies while the investigation continues.
The UIFB also sent a confidential version of the report to state prosecutors. The Federal Police received the same report for further review.
Sport Club Jaraguá released a statement after the report became public. The club said it remains committed to ethics and sports integrity.
The club added that it will cooperate fully with authorities if any irregularities are confirmed. It said due process will be respected throughout the investigation.
Jaraguá closed its statement with a direct line on the matter. The club said integrity is non-negotiable and that match-fixing has no place in the organization.
The case remains under review by both sports and legal authorities in Brazil. No final ruling has been announced.
