DigiPlus Interactive Corp. said Brazil’s new ban on online fixed-odds betting is not expected to have a material effect on its financial or operating position. The Philippine gaming operator is now preparing to return funds to customers in the country.
In a statement released on September 28, the company said it is taking the steps needed to comply with the government directive. Its main focus is processing withdrawals on time and returning player money.
DigiPlus said its immediate concern is an orderly response for affected customers. It plans to return funds within the period set by the government.
Brazil Signs Provisional Measure on Betting
The ban comes from a provisional measure signed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on September 25. It prohibits the operation, offering, intermediation, and advertising of fixed-odds betting in Brazil.
Brazil’s Health Ministry said the restriction covers sports betting and online games. This includes betting that was previously authorized at the state and federal district levels.
Lottery categories already allowed under existing laws are not affected. The government said it made the decision because of health and social harm linked to gambling.
A provisional measure in Brazil takes legal effect right away. It still needs approval from Congress before it can become permanent law.
Deadlines Set for Players and Platforms
The measure sets a firm schedule. New deposits were banned starting September 25.
Players have until 11:59 p.m. on October 5 to withdraw the money left in their accounts. Betting websites and mobile apps must then stop operating on October 6.
Balances that are not withdrawn by the deadline will go through a separate process. Banks are required to return those funds between October 9 and October 14.
DigiPlus said it is working to follow this timetable. The company wants customers to receive their money through the required process and on time.
Brazil was the first overseas market for DigiPlus. The company launched its GamePlus platform there through a soft launch on September 22, 2025.
Less than three weeks later, on October 10, 2025, DigiPlus paused the platform. It said the pause would let it build products suited to local players.
The company’s statement did not point to any material hit to its finances or operations. However, DigiPlus said the situation is still developing and is not yet final.
It cited ongoing legal and legislative procedures tied to the provisional measure. DigiPlus said it will keep watching the process and share further updates when needed.
