TLDR
- Fanatics Sports & Casino now offers free injury protection for entire NFL and NBA games.
- Eligible player prop bets are covered automatically, with no opt-in or claim needed.
- Injuries before halftime get instant refunds, while injuries after halftime are paid in FanCash.
- Fanatics says it is the first sportsbook to cover the whole game at no charge.
- Fanatics separately paid FanCash to bettors after Giants running back Cam Skattebo was benched.
Fanatics Sports & Casino is expanding its player injury protection program. The sportsbook will now cover full NFL and NBA games at no extra cost to customers.
The change comes as the NBA starts its new season and the NFL enters Week 7. The program applies to bettors on both leagues.
The protection is automatic for eligible player prop bets. Customers do not need to opt in, use a promo token, or file a claim.
How the Injury Refunds Work
The program is called FAIR PLAY Max Pledge. If a player that a customer bet on leaves a game injured and does not return, that part of the bet is voided.
On a single bet, the customer gets their stake back. On a parlay, the remaining legs of the bet stay active.
Timing decides how the refund is paid. If the injury happens before halftime, the refund is given right away.
If the injury happens after halftime, the customer receives FanCash once the game ends. For parlays with legs still to play, FanCash is credited after every leg has settled.
FanCash is the company’s rewards currency. Customers can use it for merchandise, trading cards, game tickets, and more sportsbook bets.
Ted Moss is President of Sportsbook at Fanatics Betting and Gaming. He said the company builds its products around the fan experience.
“We were the first in the industry to launch player injury protection with FAIR PLAY, and now we’re the first to cover the whole game at no charge to the customer,” Moss said.
Fanatics Pays Bettors After Skattebo Benching
Fanatics also compensated some bettors after a game on Sunday, Oct. 18. The New York Giants lost 34-27 to the New Orleans Saints.
Giants running back Cam Skattebo was a popular prop bet before the game. He is the team’s lead rusher.
Skattebo was benched because of recurring fumbling problems. He was not injured, so the standard injury protection did not apply.
Even so, Fanatics said it would give FanCash to customers holding losing straight bets on Skattebo. The company shared the news in a post on X.
“Shocked that Cam Skattebo saw ZERO touches today? Us too, so we’ve got your back on ALL losing Skattebo straight bets,” the post said.
Fanatics says full game player protection with FAIR PLAY will now cover every NFL and NBA game for the entire season.
