Korea Sports Leisure, the company that runs South Korea’s Sports Toto, has received police awards for its work to prevent gambling problems. CEO Kim Dae-wook and four employees were honored.
The awards recognized awareness campaigns the company developed with law enforcement. These campaigns focused on teaching people about the risks of gambling.
Police Day Ceremony Honors CEO and Staff
The awards were handed out on October 21 at Seoul Namdaemun Police Station. The event marked the 81st anniversary of Police Day in South Korea.
Kim received his commendation from Ko Beom-seok, Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. The four employees received theirs from Ham Kyung-chul, chief of Namdaemun Police Station.
The awards came from both the city’s top police official and the local station chief. The honorees were recognized for awareness work done together with police, not by the company alone.
The awards followed the 2026 Sports Toto Gambling Problem Prevention Content initiative. Korea Sports Leisure organized the program with the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation and Seoul Namdaemun Police Station.
The campaign ran from July 20 to August 23. Its goal was to raise awareness about the dangers linked to gambling.
The program brought together the Sports Toto operator, the foundation, and the police. All three groups worked on the same prevention message.
Namdaemun Police Station played two roles. It helped organize the summer program and later hosted the ceremony where the awards were given.
The summer campaign had already ended before the October ceremony. Its dates are separate from the company’s newest campaign.
Youth Campaign Runs Through Betman
Korea Sports Leisure is now running a new campaign aimed at preventing youth gambling. It is being held through Betman, the online sales platform for Sports Toto.
The campaign started on October 26, five days after the awards ceremony. This keeps the police recognition and the new prevention effort separate in timing.
While young people are the main focus, the campaign is also open to the wider public. The goal is to get people involved and make them aware of the dangers of gambling.
The youth campaign is not connected to the summer program that led to the police awards. Both efforts, however, center on gambling prevention.
The company is asking young people and the broader community to take part. The campaign is scheduled to close on November 8.
