TLDR
- Fortuna Entertainment Group has closed its acquisition of TOPsport, Lithuania’s leading betting operator.
- The deal follows a March announcement of a 70% stake purchase backed by parent company Penta Investments.
- Lithuania’s gambling market grew 16.8% in the first half of 2026, reaching €153.6 million in revenue.
- Online betting drove most of that growth, rising 25% year on year to €119.9 million.
- TOPsport holds over half of Lithuania’s online market and reported EBITDA above €65 million last year.
Fortuna Entertainment Group has confirmed it has finished buying TOPsport, the top betting company in Lithuania. The company announced the closing on Monday through its LinkedIn page.
Fortuna called the move the start of a new chapter for the business. It said the deal will strengthen its position in the Baltic region.
The purchase was first announced in March. At that time, Fortuna said it would buy a 70% stake in TOPsport. Penta Investments, which owns Fortuna, backed the deal financially.
That earlier announcement was described as one of the biggest foreign investments in Lithuania in recent years. It was also said to be a record spending amount for Penta.
What Fortuna’s Leadership Said
Fortuna Chief Executive Officer Dieter John spoke about the deal back in March. He said the acquisition supports the company’s commitment to responsible gaming.
John also said the deal helps the group keep high standards across its operations. He said he was proud of the work done by both teams to make the deal happen.
The timing of the deal lines up with fresh data on Lithuania’s gambling market. The Lithuanian Gambling Supervisory Authority released new figures just days before Fortuna’s announcement.
Those figures show the market grew by 16.8% in the first half of 2026. Gross gaming revenue reached €153.6 million, up from €131.5 million during the same period last year.
Online Betting Leads Market Growth
Online gambling made up almost four fifths of all revenue in the country. Online operators brought in €119.9 million, a 25% increase compared to last year.
Land based venues did not see the same growth. Revenue from physical locations fell to €33.7 million, a drop of 5% from the year before.
TOPsport’s own performance last year adds more context to the deal. The company reported EBITDA above €65 million, with a profit margin over 50%.
TOPsport has also grown at a compound annual rate of around 30% since 2020. That growth has helped it become the clear leader in Lithuania’s betting market.
The company now holds more than half of Lithuania’s online betting market share. It also runs 54 retail locations across the country and employs over 200 people.
Fortuna pointed to another figure showing TOPsport’s strength in the country. The company has a 97% assisted brand recognition rate among people in Lithuania.
In its announcement, Fortuna described TOPsport as a gold medal performer. The company said adding TOPsport to its portfolio marks another step in its growth plans.
Fortuna said the deal creates new chances to share expertise across both companies. It also said the move should help deliver better experiences for customers going forward.
The acquisition gives Fortuna a bigger presence in a market that is currently expanding. Lithuania’s gambling sector has posted strong growth numbers through the first half of 2026, with online betting as the main driver of that increase.
