EDGE Markets, a financial technology company that serves sports bettors and prediction market traders, expects to process more than $2 billion in transactions during the 2026 NFL season.
The company shared the forecast on October 22, 2026. If the estimate holds, it would nearly double the $1.2 billion EDGE handled during the 2025 NFL season.
The early numbers support the forecast. In the first 44 days of the season, EDGE processed more than $800 million in transactions.
That figure is nearly four times the volume from the same period last season, according to a company statement.
“Football season brings a surge in real-time activity for EDGE Boost cardholders,” the company said.
How EDGE Boost Works
EDGE’s first product built for sports bettors is the EDGE Boost debit card. It is a Visa card that lets users keep their betting and trading money separate from their everyday finances.
Customers load the card from their regular checking accounts. Prediction market traders can now use it too.
The card is built for markets that run around the clock. According to the company, clients can move money from their EDGE Boost balance to a partner market in real time, even when traditional bank transfers are paused.
Traders can send up to $5 million per transaction and up to $50 million per day. These transfers go to three of the leading U.S. prediction markets.
EDGE does not charge fees for moving money to its partner markets. Cardholders can also earn up to 0.5% cash back on qualifying spending categories.
The company also recently launched a real-time funding platform for prediction market traders.
Football Drives the Volume
Football is the most bet-on sport in the United States. The growth of prediction markets has also added to activity on EDGE’s platforms.
The $2 billion forecast could turn out to be low. Holiday games and the playoffs, which usually bring large increases in wagering, are still to come.
“Football has become a 24/7 market, and the money behind it has been stuck on banking hours,” said Seni Thomas, CEO and founder of EDGE Markets.
“Fans want a fast, dedicated way to fund their sports entertainment, and we keep building and improving our products around the idea that money should move as fast as the game does,” Thomas said.
Week Seven of the 2026 NFL season kicked off on the night of October 22, the same day EDGE released its forecast.
