Ukraine’s gambling regulator PlayCity announced a new partnership with YouTube aimed at speeding up the removal of illegal gambling advertisements on the platform.
The agency confirmed the deal through its official Telegram channel. Officials said the cooperation would allow for faster detection of rule-breaking content and quicker takedowns.
“We have begun collaborating with the YouTube platform to respond more quickly and block illegal gambling advertising,” PlayCity stated.
The partnership links PlayCity’s monitoring tools with YouTube’s own content moderation systems. This connection is designed to reduce the gap between spotting a violation and getting it removed.
Early Results From the YouTube Partnership
PlayCity says the collaboration is already showing results. The agency confirmed that one YouTube channel with more than 3,000 subscribers was shut down after it posted gambling advertisements.
A separate video promoting an illegal casino was also taken down. That video appeared on a channel with over 133,000 subscribers.
Officials said the aim is to tighten control over gambling content on the platform. They also want to shorten response times when violations are found.
PlayCity is not relying on content removal alone. The regulator continues to hand out fines for breaches of Ukraine’s advertising laws.
These enforcement actions are part of a broader effort by the agency to clean up the country’s gambling space. Illegal advertising has been a persistent problem across social media platforms in Ukraine.
YouTube is one of the most widely used platforms in the country. That makes it a key target for regulators trying to limit the reach of unlicensed gambling operators.
The partnership is a step toward giving regulators more direct access to platform-level tools. Previously, content removal requests could take longer to process through standard reporting channels.
Ukraine Moves Gambling Licensing Fully Online
This development comes alongside another major change in Ukraine’s gambling sector. The country has moved its entire licensing system online.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation worked with PlayCity to shift all licensing procedures to the Diia platform. Diia is Ukraine’s main government services app.
Companies can now register through a personal account on the platform. They can fill out application forms electronically and sign them using a qualified digital signature.
The system pulls company data directly from state registers. This allows PlayCity to verify information and issue licenses in a matter of minutes.
Licenses available through the portal cover land-based casinos, betting shops, slot halls, online poker, and B2B gambling services.
The digital shift is meant to reduce paperwork and speed up the approval process. It also adds a layer of transparency to how gambling licenses are granted in Ukraine.
PlayCity confirmed that the online system is fully operational. The channel with over 133,000 subscribers that had its illegal casino video removed was one of the most recent enforcement actions taken under the new partnership.
