Some customers of online betting firm BresBet are having trouble getting their money out, according to the Gambling Commission. The UK regulator says it is aware of the problem and will share more details when it has them.
The issue follows a licence suspension in late August. BresBet and a second operator, Bet St George, both lost the right to run their gambling businesses in Britain.
Why the Licences Were Suspended
On 28 August 2026, the Gambling Commission suspended the operating licences of BresBet Ltd and Bet St George Ltd. BresBet runs bresbet.com, and Bet St George operates betstgeorge.com.
BresBet Ltd held operating licence number 065252-R-340096-002. Bet St George Ltd held licence number 067818-R-341699-001.
The regulator said the move followed its own enquiries. Those enquiries revealed suspected social responsibility and anti-money laundering failings at both firms.
The Commission said it would review both licences under section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005. It added that the suspension would stay in place until it was satisfied the businesses were compliant.
At the time, the regulator told both firms they must treat customers fairly. It also said they had to keep customers fully informed about any changes affecting them.
The suspension took effect right away. However, it did not stop either operator from letting customers access their accounts and withdraw their money, and both firms could still be contacted through their websites.
On 4 September 2026, both BresBet Ltd and Bet St George Ltd surrendered their operating licences. The Gambling Commission shared the update the following day.
The regulator reminded both operators that they needed plans in place. It said they must take all necessary steps to make sure customers were not unnecessarily disadvantaged.
The Commission also pointed the firms to its guidance on closing a licensed gambling business. That guidance sets out what operators are expected to do when they stop trading.
On 30 September 2026, the regulator posted another update. It said it was aware that some BresBet customers were having difficulty withdrawing funds.
The Commission did not give details about how many customers were affected. It said it would update its webpage as soon as it had more information.
Administrators Appointed at Bet St George
On 16 October 2026, the Gambling Commission said it had been told that administrators had been appointed for Bet St George Ltd. The administrators are from the restructuring firm BTG.
Customers who believe Bet St George owes them money are advised to contact BTG directly. The email address given for these claims is betstgeorge@btguk.com.
No similar update has been shared for BresBet so far. The Gambling Commission says its webpage will be updated once it has further information about BresBet Ltd.
