Brazil’s State Lottery of Paraíba, known as LOTEP, met with representatives from TikTok Brazil to talk about gaming regulation and digital advertising. The meeting took place at LOTEP’s headquarters in João Pessoa.
Officials from LOTEP’s technology, communications, technical management, and enforcement departments attended. Licensed operators were also present at the meeting.
TikTok Brazil’s team walked attendees through how the platform handles content control, user safety, and advertising standards. The talks centered on how regulators and digital platforms can work together to keep gaming content within legal boundaries.
Regulatory Framework on the Table
LOTEP officials laid out Paraíba’s existing rules for the gaming sector. This included how operators are licensed, how auditing works, and what tools are in place to protect users.
TikTok shared more detail on how it enforces advertising rules on its platform. Participants also looked at how digital tools could help users spot legitimate, licensed operators.
LOTEP said the initiative helps strengthen oversight of legal gaming and reduces exposure to illegal operators. The regulator stressed that advertising must line up with responsible gaming principles.
Milena Mélo, Communications Advisor and member of LOTEP’s Responsible Gaming Commission, spoke about the value of these discussions.
“It is extremely important to maintain constant dialogue with digital platforms to improve communication practices and create an increasingly safe, transparent, and regulatory-compliant environment,” she said.
Part of a Larger Effort
The TikTok meeting is one of several steps LOTEP has taken to engage digital platforms and other players in the gaming space.
Earlier in 2026, LOTEP held a separate event in João Pessoa. It brought together operators, lawyers, and sector specialists.
That event aimed to align Paraíba’s market with international compliance and transparency standards. Topics included responsible gaming, enforcement, and tackling illegal gambling.
Petrônio Rolim, Superintendent of LOTEP, spoke at that event about the direction of the regulator.
“Dialogue with operators plays a crucial role in the further development of the industry. We strive for the modernization of licensing processes and constant control of gaming activities throughout the state,” he said.
Brazil’s betting sector has been going through major regulatory changes, making cooperation between platforms and regulators a growing priority.
The LOTEP and TikTok meeting reflects a wider push to make sure that social media advertising in the gaming space meets the rules set out by Brazilian authorities.
