TLDR
- Kalshi has secured sponsorship deals with five MLB teams: the Red Sox, Dodgers, Braves, Giants and Padres.
- The deals include stadium signage, digital branding and fan promotions.
- Kalshi argues its event contracts are federally regulated financial products, not sports bets.
- States including Massachusetts, Nevada, Michigan and Washington have already limited Kalshi’s sports markets.
- Legal challenges are underway in Massachusetts courts and in a federal lawsuit filed by California tribal gaming groups.
Kalshi has expanded its presence in professional baseball by signing sponsorship agreements with five Major League Baseball teams.
The deals cover the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres.
Each agreement includes stadium signage and branding placed inside and outside the ballparks.
Some teams will also offer digital promotions and fan-focused campaigns tied to the Kalshi brand.
Branding for the company appeared at Dodger Stadium before the deal was formally announced.
Digital displays in the outfield and signage behind home plate carried the Kalshi name during recent games.
The Red Sox also promoted Kalshi through social media posts and messages sent to their marketing subscribers.
What Kalshi Offers
Kalshi is a prediction-market platform that lets users take positions on the outcomes of events, including sports results.
The company describes its offerings as event contracts regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission at the federal level.
This is different from traditional sports betting, which is licensed and regulated by individual states.
Kalshi has been expanding into major sporting events over the past year to build recognition for this model.
The company previously formed a World Cup related partnership through ADI Predictstreet.
It is also in talks about a broader relationship directly with MLB at the league level.
Legal Challenges Across Several States
Kalshi’s sports contracts face ongoing legal disputes in multiple states.
Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell filed a lawsuit against Kalshi in 2025, arguing the company needed a state gambling license to offer sports contracts.
A January ruling allowed Massachusetts authorities to block access to Kalshi’s sports markets within the state.
That case is now under review by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.
In California, three tribal gaming groups, Blue Lake Rancheria, Chicken Ranch Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians and Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians, filed a federal lawsuit against the company.
The Indian Gaming Association has also asked Congress to place limits on Kalshi’s sports contracts.
As a result of these disputes, Kalshi’s sports markets are currently restricted in Massachusetts, Nevada, Michigan and Washington.
Despite these restrictions, the company continues to sign new sponsorship deals with sports teams and leagues.
The five MLB partnerships place the Kalshi brand directly in front of fans attending games in person.
This marks a shift from Kalshi being available mainly through its app to becoming part of the in-stadium experience.
If Kalshi reaches a league-wide agreement with MLB, that arrangement would extend its sports presence beyond the five teams currently under contract.
The outcome of the pending court cases will determine how far Kalshi can operate its sports contracts across additional states going forward.
