Resorts World New York City has opened a new section of its gaming floor. The addition includes 1,400 slot machines as part of its ongoing $5.5 billion expansion project.
The casino is also holding a groundbreaking ceremony today. The event marks the start of Phase Two of the redevelopment plan.
This expansion comes less than three months after Resorts World launched live table games. That move made it New York City’s first full commercial casino.
Robert DeSalvio, president of Genting Americas East, said the slot machines have performed well. He noted they brought in $230 million in gross gaming revenue during the first 11 weeks of operation.
New renderings of the project will be revealed at today’s ceremony. Phase Two includes a new 400-room hotel tower and a 7,000-seat entertainment venue.
New Gaming Floor Details
The new casino floor section features a Dragon Den gaming area. It includes 114 Aristocrat titles and 48 Dragon Link machines.
This expansion is part of a larger, multi-year redevelopment plan. The finished project calls for a 350,000-square-foot casino with 6,000 slot machines and 800 live table games.
The full plan also includes 2,000 hotel rooms and more than 10 acres of public green space. Once finished, the property is expected to become the largest casino in the country.
Resorts World says it has contributed more than $5 billion to New York’s public education system since opening in 2011. The company also reaffirmed a $2.5 billion commitment to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
It has pledged a separate $2 billion community benefits package as well.
Table Game Revenue Growth
Resorts World launched live table games on April 28. Analysts at Maybank described the early results as underwhelming during the first week.
Revenue has grown steadily since then. Weekly table game revenue rose from about $4.9 million in the first reporting week to more than $10.4 million by the week ending July 12, according to the New York State Gaming Commission.
Slot revenue stayed fairly steady during that time, ranging between $20 million and $22 million per week. Combined weekly gaming revenue increased from $27.2 million to about $30.8 million over the same period.
Resorts World was one of three projects awarded downstate casino licenses in December 2025. The other two are Bally’s Bronx and Steve Cohen-backed Metropolitan Park near Citi Field.
Resorts World already operated a racino, letting it convert quickly into a full casino. Bally’s and Metropolitan Park are building new sites from the ground up.
Bally’s Bronx purchased its Ferry Point development site for $157 million in February. It filed construction permit applications this month, with an opening planned for 2030.
Metropolitan Park began pre-construction site work in February. Local reporting from Queens Daily Eagle in May said the project was running behind schedule, though developers maintain the 2030 opening date still stands.
